I finished this book in almost two days, it is that good. RTCA truly sad disappointment. Having loved the Study and other Glass books I was so looking forward to Spy Glass, but it's a jumpy, confusing and overwrought muddle of a book. Good to see that Opal had a comparatively happy result, but what's with the "I hate Valek" when he did so much for her? Pity about Kade and, well to end up with her torturer, gotta love redemption!!As a very minor aside, the cover art on the edition that I bought has a girl who looks to be a young teenager. Opal is early
2.5* It took me ages to get through this because I'm really just over Opal at this point. I feel like there are loads of convenient plot points in this book, the relationship situation annoyed me, and I don't like the way all this pretty dark stuff happens to Opal and then its never mentioned again. I didn't hate the book but reading all 3 of the Sea Glass books is just too much on one go I think. I'm just glad I can go back to the Poison Study books now as I much prefer those characters

This book wasnt horrible, but I did have issues with certain plot points, and the rest was pretty boring.Opal irritated me in this book because she (view spoiler)[ cheated on her boyfriend! Twice! If she was going to do that she should have just broken up with him. (hide spoiler)] We also got dealt a love triangle, or even a love square! The rest of the book was boring, I was beyond pleased to have finished it. I just hope that Shadow Study isnt this boring.5 out of 10
Okay, I'm not going to write a full review here, but there is ONE HUGE issue I want to discuss. In the last book, there was a hint of a love triangle between Delven, Kade, and Opal, so I'm sure you're all expecting one in this book.Well, ding ding ding ding!I won't tell you who she chooses or anything like that, but let me tell you something:I accepted Delven's whole wanting to redeem himself thing, and wanting to help out, and even falling in love with Opal. I even, reluctantly, accepted that
Okay, listen up, girls, because this book has some major important life advice here:If you happen to get kidnapped and abused by a heroin addict when you are 14 yrs old, and then run into him when you are 20, only to have him abuse you again. Then, he kicks his heroin addiction, yet still abuses you just a couple of more times, only to later reveal that he didn't enjoy it as much because he now loves you. That's totally fine. You should totally marry that guy because he's sorry.
Dull and problematic. But mostly meh. I still love Valek and the original group though. RTC
