Best book I ever read. You must never feel too sure of yourself and imagine that there's no danger around. Emotions. Love. Tenderness. Life propaganda, that's what it was. You had to watch it all the time. You fall for that and then life goes important on you.
Sometimes this book is know as "The Ski Bum". It's one of the most impressive books I've ever read. I love the character Lenni, he's my hero!
Romain Gary talks. All people in this novel are Romain Gary and they talk in the same way. Such lecture-like talks from everyone's mouth in the novel really bothered me. (less)
The first part of this book was really amazing.BUT the enf of it was really letdown & i wonder why he continued like this.
Excellent book. The beginning location is in the mountains and centered around skiing and I expected the rest of the book to follow suit. Instead it moved to Geneva and provided a very interesting snapshot of Genevan cafe and counter culture in the 70's with social commentary on diplomatic lifestyle. A great and unusual read.
Somehow the character of "Leni" reminded me of the book "The Razor's Edge" of "Somerset Maugham"; though I liked the latter one much more.
