Entertaining and escapist summer read with a good message for mothers or any woman who feels she needs to be the all for others at the expense of her own life.This book was such a fun, heartwarming story! In The Overdue Life of Amy Byler, librarian Amy finds herself face-to-face with her separated husband John, whos requesting permission to visit their children, Cori and Joe, after abandoning the family 3 years earlier. I really enjoyed this audiobook.It made me laugh and smile. Even though Amy was a bit over the top at times, emotionally all over the place, the plot, idea and execution was well done, and the story on its own was entertaining and the humor was right up my alley.There were quite a few things I really enjoyed about this book.Many of the chapters started with a journal entry from Amys teenage daughter. The author did a fabulous job portraying a teenage girl who is not a passionate reader, but
2.5 stars, rounded upWhen will I ever learn? I keep thinking Ill enjoy a romantic comedy. I WANT to like romantic comedies. But in truth, I tend to find most of them too simplistic for my taste. They usually start ok and then get dorky. This one tried to be more than just a rom-com with some single parent angst and a family crisis towards the end. But it just didnt work for me.
