This is a strange but beautiful book. It's not a "light" read and while the storyline is interesting enough, it's all the small yet profound observations that make this book a winner. I can see why now, Ahlem Mostaghnemi is a celebrated Arab writer. Considering this is a translation of her Arabic work, it's been done masterfully. If you like to ponder big questions and like to see a meaning behind everything that happens, if you like to philosophise over life, this is the book for you.Thank youI think this book is the BEST :)
Ahlem Mosteghanemis Chaos of the Senses is the second instalment in an award winning trilogy that cemented her reputation as the bestselling female author in the Arab world and a bona fide literary phenomenon. Set in the early 1990s at Algeria, which was being rocked by relentless political upheavals and mindless violence, the novel tackles the immortal themes of love and death, somehow infusing it with freshness and a robust heartiness. Hayat, the daughter of a war hero and wife of a high

It sounds very naive in the beginning .. then it gradually improves on you till you're amazed. She definitely uses her tools well .. You're confused which is real and which is not .. Her language is very passionate .. thoughtful reflections .. but lacks a certain depth into life, in my opinion.
A very beautiful and moving story of a relationship between a literary -oriented female writer and a man who is extracted from her delusional imagination . Certainly ,It was the first Arabic novel i've read in years . <3
A beautiful continuation to Memory in the flesh. If you have read any of Ahlam's work then you will know there is no need to praise her as her work speaks for itself. She is a literature genius and a player on words which entices you to read her books over and over again to understand the author more rather than the characters as you will be no longer interested in them.
That book is a piece of art. I liked how you can never guess what's gonna happen no matter how smart you are. Also the fact that she talks about politics so perfectly without being a politician. Bref, She knows what she's doing.
