Part of the allure of MHC's books is that you know exactly what you're getting. She has a formula that she sticks to, but it works. You get 350 or so pages that will rescue the heroine and reveal the Bad Guy. (And frequently, exonerate the wrongly accused). It's an entertaining, satisfying experience. My only complaint about this one is that the Big Surprise at the very end of the book was obvious a mile away and just too cheesy for words.The usual book by Clark, this is interesting enough that I finished it but nothing great, and unfortunately so many stupid, implausible things that it can be aggravating. Case in point, the victim is shot at point blank range by, it turns out, someone who would know how to do it correctly, but she doesnt die for more than five hours. Dumb, but Ive read Clark before, so not surprising. After reading a serious book her novels are filler, light, mildly entertaining, and forgettable.
I loved MHC when I was in college, and this book didnt disappoint! A great thriller and an easy read. 5 stars!

First Mary Higgins Clark book that I have read since I read Where Are the Children? and others back in high school. It was a little predictable in spots, but I liked the 2 story lines and the characters of prosecutor, Emily Wallace and accused agent/husband, Gregg Aldrich. I liked the TV shows in the book. Court Side and the host, Mark, Matt or Mike, who was Gregg Aldrich's friend. And her neighbor likes to watch Fugitive Hunt.I expected more about the heart transplant after the initial teaser
And the Queen of Suspense does it again! Exciting, page turning book! I loved this story, and what a twist at the end! Read it in one sitting! Wow!
